Once, in the year 2007, a new nuclear bomb was created, one that had the power to wipe out all the inhabitants of North America. The name of the Virus was H4M8, a mutation of the HIV/AIDS virus that actually infects the genetic code. In short, it broke through the cellwall and used the nucleus of the cell to recreate it's own virus, changing with each successive generation. This would lead to rapid changes in the natural world to try and combat this virus, if it were ever dropped.
The plans were stolen by a terrorist group out of North Korea. They duplicated the results several times, then launched the missiles at various locales in the world. Their intention was to wipe out all the infidels. Their actual results were to wipe out all of humanity, including thereselves.
Humanity was an extinct race.
10 years went by, then 20, and the animals slowly began to recover from their losses; however, thanks to all the genetic changes floating around, the animals slowly began to mutate. Many gained the ability to shift from their four legged form to what was commonly known as a were-form. Most species, upon finding this mutation, killed the mutants. Most canines, however, were more tolerant. The mutation flourished.
And this is where our story begins....
