The Beginning
In the beginning, the packs lived in perfect harmony. All was as it should be. Who could have guessed that two wolf pups would altar the entire balance of their species? From the very day they came into this world, which was the same day for the pair, their destinies were forever entwined, as were their packs’.
The First Year; The First Meeting Vitani tugged playfully at the ear of another femme yearling in her pack. The femme let out a yelp of surprise and darted after Vitani, who was making her way to the top of a hill.
Careus had a sudden urge to go to the frozen lake that was only a minute away. He shook his pelt, and began a swift run toward the lake. He raced toward the bottom of a hill; the half-way mark. He was about to pass by when something smashed into his side, sending the object and himself tumbling over in the snow.
Careus rose sorely from the snow, grumbling. "Why don't you watch where you're going!?" he snapped. Careus turned to find the utter fool who'd smashed into him. Instead, he found himself face-to-face with a rather lovely femme. "Oh, I'm so sorry! I just wasn't paying attention to where I was going," Vitani rambled. She fought her way out of the snow, and turned to see what poor creature she'd run over. When she could see clearly, she realized she was standing face-to-face with a painfully handsome young brute. "I'm Vitani," she offered nervously. Careus noticed her tension, which resembled his own, and replied kindly, "I'm Careus." Vitani eased as she heard his equally nervous undertone. She opened her mouth to speak again, but she was cut off by her mother calling her name. "I'm sorry! I have to go!" she called as she made her way back over the hill. Careus was dumbfounded, and in love.
That one day, that one meeting, began the downfall of stability in the wolf society. Captivated by one another, Careus and Vitani knew they were destined to mate and be together for an eternity and more. Their packs wouldn't stand for it. The alphas were bitter rivals, and they'd barely sustained control this long. Unable to be apart, Careus and Vitani left their packs to be together. The alphas were outraged, each blaming the other for the loss of two valuable pack members.
Not long after the pair's departure, the packs declared war. After months of fighting, the news finally reached Careus and Vitani of the battle. They immediately rushed back to their homelands, only to find that their families had actually spent months slaughtering one another. The only safe place for the pair seemed to be the top of the hill where they'd met. They slept there that night, and as fate would have it, it was their last night. Some time, around midnight, the two were mercilessly slaughtered by their old pack members, who failed to recognize the now-grown wolves. The following day, the bodies were found by each of the alphas and their mates. Enraged and devastated, they swore revenge upon one another. Now, generations later, the descendants of Vitani's and Careus's packs are fighting to achieve what their anscestors could not. Total victory, and brutal revenge. For the war had now become a battle for complete control as well.
The darks will not stop until they have claimed everything, the lights will not stop until the darks are put in their place, and the neutral will not stop until the fighting does. Most call it the "lovers' curse" of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love who could turn passion into a weapon that brought the whole world to its knees. Who will you choose to follow in this battle, where the loser pays with their life?
